PROGRESS AND PERSPECTIVES: WOMEN IN STEEL

Kate Kuuskman was raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, with little interest in pursuing a career in the steel industry. But after learning about the various processes and professions that support them, she joined the ranks as a third-generation steelworker at Algoma Steel in 2006. Years later, Kuuskman became the first female general manager in operations at Algoma. She currently serves as the general manager — direct strip production complex and cold mill.
